Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hope that all of you had a safe and happy celebration bringing in the New Year. This bear in the cupboard was the only one hugging the champagne bottle on New Year's Eve at our house. Since we brought Prince home late that afternoon and spent the evening adjusting to the new family dynamics, we three were beat and headed to our beds early!

Morgan meets Prince

On Thursday, Michelle and her family came over in the afternoon for their introduction to the newest Smethurst. Morgan was beside herself with the new "doggie." Prince was gentle with her, and he greeted her with a big lick on the hands. Morgan loved to pet Prince and hug his neck. We predict that they will become fast friends for life!

Mark and Jen were in the "Big Apple" with friends for New Years Eve for a concert. They spent several days in the city before heading back to the real world in DC. Jen is back at work today, and Mark is at Jen's working on his portfolio and resume package.

Michael stopped by on Sunday afternoon to meet Prince and to watch some of the NFL playoff games. We had fun pulling out some of the old pictures of John's dog, Spencer, and comparing with Prince. Spencer was a yellow lab -- mere 100 pounds! He dwarfed both Michelle and Michael when they were pre-teens; it was good that Spencer was also a gentle dog.

How can you resist that face!

Prince is now 27 pounds and should be about double that weight when fully grown. A much more manageable size for both Morgan and Nan. But, big enough to be a "guy dog" for John and the men in the family!

I'll sign off for now. I have to take Prince outside for a "potty break" before I can get a shower and we can go for our morning walk. A puppy is a full-time job! Aren't we glad that we get full-time love!!!
