Countdown to the Garden Tour

#404 Seedling

One week from tomorrow is the Dragon Garden Open House and Tour! We have 41 people signed up and emails are still coming in. I hope that we can accommodate everyone who is interested in seeing what's happening at Hallmark Drive.

Pollinating the seedlings

The daylilies are beginning to really make a show. We have some exciting new seedlings, and we bought some new plants last weekend at Iron Gate Gardens (Kings Mountain) that are spectacular. The trip to Iron Gate made us realize: 1- We need more land. With only 0.38 acres and the house taking up a good chunk of that, we are a bit handicapped in moving to a bigger program. 2- Our program is really young and our plants are small-ish. At least compared to Vic and Van's plants. I think his plants are on steroids or the boys have something special in their dirt or well water!

But, again, we are excited about our little piece of heaven here in Matthews. The next week will be full of activities as we weed and neaten up the garden. I have a bit of paperwork to do with getting lists of the plants for sale and stocking up on refreshments and water. And we'll want to do a clean up of the house and art studio, too. You never know if someone might need to come in or use the bathroom!

The Greenhouse

Hope that all of you are enjoying your gardens and the bountiful rain that 2009 has brought to us! I will post pictures and news of the tour in a few weeks. Stay tuned!
